PFW SS16 – Runway Report Part 2

Hello my lovely friends,

I’m so sad to announce that this fashion month is now officially over. We had New York, London, Milan and finally Paris. Every Fashion Week was a highlight itself and I think we can all look really forward to the coming season when these great trends are going to be worn off the runway! In the last days of Paris Fashion Week some of the most influential designers presented their ready-to-wear collections for spring / summer 2016. The shows were unique and absolutely spectacular! Therefore, I wrote you my last Runway Report for this fashion month including some of my favorite shows of the last days.

Alexander McQueen

Sarah Burton presented a new dramatic and feminine collection of Alexander McQueen in an amazing setting. The models walked down on a parquet floor to a calm piano song. Lots of the clothes were minted by transparency and light pastel colors. Ruffles played a big part in the whole collection and so did glitter applications which reflected in the light in a lovely way. In the middle of the show the mood changed. Now, the models showed some amazing denim looks and wonderful floral dresses often combined with lace. It was the perfect mix of a bohemian and exotic collection made for romantic but confident women.

Maison Valentino

It felt like being taken to Africa. This years show of Maison Valentino was all about tunics, feathers and African prints. To complete the looks, all models had their hair braided up into high buns. The major colors were earth tones like brown, green and orange. At the beginning especially plain black dresses were presented. Throughout the show it changed – olive and burgundy were playing a more important part. Towards the end, everything got brighter. Now, the models showed more delicate clothes like lace or tulle robes.

Chanel

Well, I think Chanel plays in its own league. In my opinion there’s hardly no other label who manages to fascinate the viewers in a way Karl Lagerfeld does. This time, the subject was Chanel Airlines. The Grand Palais in Paris was completely transformed into an airport and the guests must have felt like they were waiting for their flight. They had the high honor to go on an incredible journey into the world of Chanel – first class traveling of course. But, there was nothing about boring stewardess uniforms.  Au contraire my friends! The models showed looks for every type. Some wore the classic tweedy skirt suits or dropped shoulder jackets – for those who like to travel glamorous. For others who like it more sporty and comfy while traveling Chanel presented beautiful sweaters – either worn over dresses or wrapped around the waist – and knitted skirts combined with fancy aviator sunglasses. One real highlight were the soles of some shoes which were lit up and gave the looks a really special glow. At the end of the amazing show the Chanel Family boarded for their flight. The one and only Karl Lagerfeld and his cute little godson Hudson Kroenig walked down the runway accompanied by Cara Delevigne. In my opinion, the show was just perfect from the beginning until the very end. Regardless of whether you prefer chic or more easy clothes for your next flight – while wearing these looks you’ll definitively travel with style.

Louis Vuitton

This year, the quote ‘Safe the best for the last’ was definitively true. At least in my opinion, the french house Louis Vuitton showed an absolutely amazing collection. It was really futuristic and a lot of models reminded of warrior princesses in a manga story. It seemed like Nicolas Ghesquiere wanted to present a new side of Louis Vuitton. The clothes had a touch of robotic. There was much leather and one and another fishnet dress showed up as well. The whole palette of colors went from white to black to metallic and even to pink. One eye-catcher of the show was the quote at the beginning which said ‘No one can tell you what you can, or cannot do’. And it was definitively on the point. The whole collection was something new and it was clearly made for powerful women who are ready to risk something and believe in their dreams. Louis Vuitton created magic once again – good job Nicolas Ghesquiere!
