Charmed by the treasures of Sri Lanka

Two sisters, two homes and one passion.

My lovies, I am so happy to finally share with you the story of Kinsfolk – a Swiss based brand for jewelry and scarves with their roots in Sri Lanka. Some of you might have already seen some glimpses in my snapchat stories (carmenjenny). It was only one month ago when I started my internship at Kinsfolk. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made so far and I feel very honored to be a part of their team.

So let’s start with the story behind Kinsfolk. The two sisters Jessica and Josie were born and raised in Switzerland. As their father originally is from Sri Lanka, they spent all their childhood summer holidays on the beaches of the island in the Indian Ocean. To unite their two homelands, the sisters founded Kinsfolk in 2012. The sisters express their strong bonds for both cultures in ever-growing collections of jewelry and scarves. And trust me – the designs are just beautiful.

What I value about Kinsfolk are not only the unique designs but also the high quality. As everything is handmade in Sri Lanka, no piece is exactly like another. One thing all the jewelry pieces have in common is the matt finishing. I think this is also something that makes the jewelry so special. Combined with the beautiful natural stones such as sapphires or moonstones,  each piece gets its own characteristic.

In today’s post you can see some of my favorite pieces. I was wearing different rings, bracelets and matching necklaces. As I like the silver and gold plated versions, I decided to wear them both. I’m a great fan of mixing gold and silver anyway and I think it really works with these pieces because they have this matt finishing. For earrings, I decided to go for some pretty studs with moonstones. Another part which I loved about this look was the Kinsfolk batik silk scarf. Guys, you can’t imagine how soft and comfy this lovie is. And the great thing is, you can style it in so many ways. You can either wear it as a headband, wrap it around your wrist or – obviously – you can just wear it as a normal scarf around your neck. 😉 I’m sure you guys have some great other ideas to wear this scarf. Just leave me a comment, I’m really curious!

So are you already charmed by the beautiful accessories of Kinsfolk like I am? Let me know. 😉 Have a wonderful rest of your day my sweethearts. Enjoy your weekend and have a great start into this last week of May.

With love, Carmen ????
