After five Trendy Tuesday Travel Specials it’s finally time for the edition I have been looking the most forward to – the one about my beloved Switzerland. As it was our national holiday yesterday, it’s the perfect occasion to get some inspiration of Switzerland and its beauty.
I also want to talk about some of the clichés. So first ‘Switzerland is very tiny and everyone is super punctual’. So that is kind of true. Switzerland is a very small country indeed and maybe the punctuality is somehow in our blood. However, I think this tiny and cute size of Switzerland is one reason for the attitude. Swiss people (well at least the most of them) are polite, friendly and very proud of our small country. Anyway, most of the other clichés are not very true. For example, Switzerland does not only exist of people eating chocolate and cheese, living on mountains with a lot of cows. 😉 I mean, I couldn’t live without chocolate but it’s not everything Switzerland should stand for. 😉 And of course there are cows and a lot of beautiful mountains, but this doesn’t mean everyone lives on a farm. Yes, the landscape is beautiful and it’s definitively a paradise for skiing and hiking fans – I love skiing but it’s not really the season for it. So during summer time, I prefer to just look at the mountains while enjoying some time at one of the pretty lakes – my favorites are Lake of Zurich and Lake of Lucerne.
Let’s leave these clichés and move to the fashionable part of Switzerland. It may not be the country number one but there are still some great designers and labels – and I don’t only mean the famous watch brands. Actually the selection is quite big and it ranges from high-end labels like Akris, Bally or Maison Mollerus to smaller ones like Piqyourdress or EnSoie. With today’s inspiration boards – of which the picks are all from Swiss brands – I want to give you some idea of the Swiss sense of fashion. It’s influenced by a lot of other countries like Italy and Scandinavia. But in the end, the Swiss fashion style represents a very unique mix of casual classiness and sporty modernity. Also, Swiss fashion always shows the proud and sincere attitude of our little country.

Nach fünf Trendy Tuesday Travel Specials ist es endlich soweit. Bei der letzten Ausgabe reisen wir natürlich in mein geliebtes Heimatland – in die schöne Schweiz. Gestern wurde noch Nationalfeiertag gefeiert, heute lassen wir uns von der Schweiz und ihrer Atmosphäre inspirieren – und hiermit soll nicht das Leben auf der Alp gemeint sein. 😉
Von der Schweiz gibt es ja wirklich sehr viele Mythen und Klischees. Wie zum Beispiel, “die Schweiz ist winzig klein und alle sind immer super pünktlich.” Nun, die Schweiz ist klein, das stimmt. Und womöglich haben wir die Pünktlichkeit ein bisschen im Blut (nicht alle). Kommen wir aber zu den nicht ganz wahren Klischees. Meine Lieben, nicht alle Schweizer leben in den Bergen bei ihren Kühen und ernähren sich von Käse und Schokolade. Eigentlich sind das sehr wenige. Naja, ich könnte auch nicht leben ohne Schokolade, aber die Schweiz sollte nicht nur hierfür stehen. Natürlich gibt es auch viele Berge und Kühe. Das heisst aber nicht, dass jeder auf einem Bauernhof wohnt. 😉 Die Landschaft ist wunderschön und sie ist wirklich ein wahres Paradies für Ski- und Wanderfans – ich liebe Skifahren, aber dafür ist jetzt wirklich nicht die Zeit. Deshalb bevorzuge ich es im Sommer, die Aussicht auf die Berge “von unten” zu geniessen. Das lässt sich zum Beispiel prima am Ufer des Zürichsees tun – wo man sich bestimmt nicht wie auf einer Alp fühlt.
Lassen wir nun diese Klischees und gehen zum modischen Teil der Schweiz über. Es mag nicht das Nummer-Eins-Land für Mode sein, trotzdem gibt es einige tolle Designer und Labels. Hierbei meine ich nicht bloss die berühmten Uhrenmarken. Die Schweiz hat eine verhältnismässig wirklich breite Auswahl, die von high-end Brands wie Akris, Bally oder Maison Mollerus zu (im Moment noch) unbekannteren Namen wie Piqyourdress oder EnSoie reicht. Mit den heutigen Inspiration Boards – von denen alle Teile natürlich von Schweizer Labels sind – möchte ich euch eine Idee des Schweizer Stils geben. Er ist inspiriert von vielen anderen Ländern wie Italien oder Skandinavien. Doch schlussendlich repräsentiert der Schweizer Modestil einen einzigartigen Mix aus schlichter Eleganz und sportlicher Modernität. Ein Stil, der die stolze und aufrichtige Einstellung unseres kleinen Landes widerspiegelt.
