Trendy Tuesday: Floral Instead

Flowers are for summer days only? Not for this season though. Whether you go for delicate roses or pale pink buds – a floral print is definitely the perfect choice to brighten up those cold pre-winter days. Let’s give your wardrobe a blooming update.

Flowers Everywhere

“There are always flowers for those who want to see them”, the French painter Henri Matisse once said. It seems like his perception has stayed accurate until today because for this fall/winter season, several designers saw lots of flowers. Luckily, they have all decided to share them with us. At Balenciaga, Demna Gvasalia incorporated pink rose flowers into his designs, which remind of vintage inspired prints. The same mood of pastels and all over flower prints was part of the Mulberry collection as well. At the same time, Elie Saab presented the feminine flowers as fluid silk dresses and J.W. Anderson went for a cool denim version with prints of graphic flowers.

A Blooming Option

Even though each designer shows a slightly different approach, there is one thing their floral prints all have in common: It’s not about the typical vibrant sunflower motifs we like to wear in summer. Instead, the flourishing lilies and co. show up in the trend colors of the season such as brown, maroon or olive green – often in combination with black. Paired with a chunky knit sweater and a cozy beanie, the perfect flower-printed winter outfit is born. Apparently, it’s a great alternative to the several trend patterns as well. This means, in case you are not in the mood for a checked blazer or some corduroy pants, go for the floral option instead and – with Henri Matisse in mind – see flowers whenever you want to see them.
