Slowly but surely, we dig out our flower tops, we enjoy the sunny days, which are getting longer again and we dare to leave the house without gloves. Well theoretically, it’s still wintertime and a cold period might await us again. Nevertheless, we want to gaze into the future – especially because in the month of the fashion weeks, when the trends for the fall/winter 18/19 season are going to be set. So this month, the CARMTIIVE Crew looks forward and even further.

To The Future and Backwards

Generally, there are three possible ways to deal with the future. You either look at it with confidence, you are one step ahead or you don’t confess it in order to reminisce the good old days. None of these methods is better or worse than another. Actually, some designers even prove that they can combine all of them simultaneously. For the Spring/Summer 2018 collection of Gucci, the archived outfits from Elton John inspired the creative director Alessandro Michele. So while this was a look backwards, the looks give direction to the current gender issue, as they are not clearly assigned to women or men anymore. Also Demna Gvasalia proves that he has always been step ahead of the current fashion world. As head designer of Balenciaga, he plays around with deconstruction of another kind. So let’s be curious about what he will show us in a few weeks for his next collection. Regarding Vetements, which is Gvasalia’s own label, the presentation of the next collection is not set yet, as he exited the usual fashion schedule – another hint that he doesn’t follow the (outdated) doctrine of the fashion industry.

Pre-Pioneers

Also some well-known faces like Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent or Pierre Balmain proved that not following the path often leads to success. As those pioneers influence fashion until today, we also want to watch their work this month. Ultimately, the collections of their labels are getting newly interpreted every season – soon we will know, how their successors will link their principles with the current zeitgeist for the fall season. Well and speaking of forerunners, musicians like David Bowie are such as important of course – the next playlist will be up soon!

Besides, the CARMITIVE Crew and I are looking very forward to the day when the mid-term exams are officially over (we study all together). So in the next two weeks, we won’t publish as many posts as usual. Of course, we will catch up on them as soon as possible. 🙂 Preferably, you just subscribe to the newsletter to always be up to date – plus, you won’t miss the exclusive giveaways.

We are looking forward to a positive-minded February!
