Let’s head over to psychology for a second. Back in the 50s, the Theory of Cognitive Dissonance was set up. It proposes that human beings strive for an inner balance while comparing the perception of the outer world with the own expectations. For example, we want to feel secure on this planet and realize our full potential. In spite, the world events keep telling us that this is not always viable. This is when a dissonance or an inconsistency evolves. What next? One possible reaction would be to simply ignore the news we don’t want to hear. Well in the longer term, this would not lead any further. Therefore, it makes more sense to just deal with the facts and find another calming influence. We don’t have to look too far – it’s in fashion. Luckily, the designers were already one step ahead and they bring us real morale boosters for the coming spring season: flower prints.
