Cupcakes, fresh flowers and ballerina vibes – don’t worry, this won’t result in a clichéd post about pastel colors. Apparently, we automatically relate the light hues of the color circle with the soft and sweet sides of life. Well, not after you will have read this post. This season, the collections prove that rose pink, sky blue and co stand for sophisticated power. Let’s get ready!

Light & Clean

Who would have expected the long-knonw springy pastel colors would get a major update one day? Unsurprisingly, fashion makes everything possible. Thanks to clear cuts and bold materials like metallic fabrics or patent leather, different labels put the cake pop colors in a whole new perspective – Acne Studios, MSGM, or Drome are just some examples to name here. At the same time, labels like Céline show a similar strong effect but with asymmetrical lines as seen in the combination of the cotton candy pink blazer and a citrus yellow skirt. Also Victoria Beckham managed it to let a light lilac oversized blazer appearing all but girly. Moreover, the British designer provided us with another key piece for this spring/summer season: just have a closer look at the pumps with the thin silver heels and you will understand.

By now, we all know our friend the athleisure trend. Since it is very comfy to incorporate sporty elements into an everyday outfit, why not adapt this on a pastel look? With his current collection, Tom Ford proved that the combination of those two opposite moods is quite easy to handle. As the designs were inspired by Los Angeles, you know why he went for ensembles with a blush swimsuit and a shiny blazer. “I live in L.A. that’s where you wear sportswear throughout the day and glamorous outfits for the night”, says the American designer. Apperently, the looks seem even fresher with some light pastel colors. For the even more sophisticated version, be sure to go for a design with some bold shoulders. If you are up for a more effortless style, maybe go for an easy jumpsuit or a shorts and T-Shirt combination. So let’s keep this in mind: pastel colors may be sweet and calming on one hand. On the other hand however, they also stand for strength and power for your spring wardrobe – and your blooming attitude of self-confidence.
